The Second Stroman
Medford's Jayden Stroman is the younger brother of the Yankees starter and he has already begun to open up the eyes of the baseball world. This week, at just 17 years old, Jayden was clocked at a remarkable 94 miles per hour. Stroman not only hit 94 from the mound but it's being reported he has hit 96 already at this young age from his shortstop position.

Don't Bet On Brandon
We don't often talk about non-sports things that we can bet on as professional sports bettors, but there are some exceptions. This past Thursday night was one of the exceptions because the market shifted so much. The first 2024 presidential debate was held last week and immediately following the conclusion markets around the world watched the lines shift because of the current US president's performance. Joe Biden, was by all accounts, a complete and utter disaster on the world stage. The Biden performance, of losing his train of thought and general uneasiness watching him fumble through the questions, led many political pundits to come to the conclusion that he would be replaced as the Democratic candidate before he even makes it to the election. The book makers however were a step in front of even the pundits.
All American Freshman
Paulsen was a two-way player this season for the Seawolves. On the hill the southpaw went 2-1 in his 15 appearances in 42 innings. He was used as a bullpen arm and mostly was the closer for the Wolves. He ended with six saves and a 3.21 ERA. Paulsen's six saves, were tied for third in the CAA, tied for fifth in program history and tied for second in the country among freshmen.
Take The Under ... While You Still Can
Let's first start with the facts. This season's offenses and runs scored are lower than the past. Forget about the talk of a dead ball or juiced ball in the past or whatever the reasons and just focus on what is happening. In 2023 each team scored 4.62 runs per game. This year that number is 4.35. We are talking about .27 less runs per game from a year ago. Not that big of a deal right? Wrong. That means that we are seeing about 1 run less per team every 3 games, that is actually a steep decline.
A First For The Seawolves
With the award, Medved is the first player in Stony Brook's history to win the award and was one of 13 players in the country to be selected as a recipient for the 2024 Cissie Leary Award.

Officially Long Island's Hometown Team
The Long Island Ducks welcomed their 9 millionth fan, setting a league record. When five-year-old Ethan Oldham from Islip stepped through the gates at Fairfield Properties Ballpark on Tuesday history was made. He entered through the West Gate at 5:56 p.m. with his Mom, Katie; Dad, Craig; and baby brother, Nolan. When he set the mark Long Island became the first club in Atlantic League history to reach the milestone attendance figure despite having begun play in the league's third year of existence. The Ducks have always drawn well as the Island have embraced their hometown team even more so than anyone could have imagined. The Ducks are also currently the Atlantic League's all-time leader in sold out crowds with 707, have led the Atlantic League in attendance 17 times and currently lead the league in 2024 attendance as well.
Suffolk's Elite Honored
The award is named in memory of the legendary educator, official, and coach Gaetano "Butch" Dellecave. 16 school districts in Suffolk County have a partnership with the award organizers.
Fustal Chooses Ferreira
"It's always an honor getting called up to the US Futsal National Team," said Ferreira. "We have the first-ever Women's FIFA Futsal World Cup coming up in 2025, as well as CONCAAF Qualifiers soon, so I'm very excited for that and what the future holds for US Futsal." "Futsal" is an indoor version of soccer that is played on a "basketball" sized field that is 40 by 20 meters. Fustal is becoming more and more popular and it's smaller rosters make Ferreira's inclusion even more impressive. Compared to the 11 players on a soccer field, Futsal fields teams of five players (one of which is a goalkeeper). They also use a smaller and heavier ball which leads to it being less bouncy and puts an emphasis on passing, receiving, dribbling and moving while under pressure.
Beating Down the Golden Goose
Clark entered the league with a fan fervor that has never been seen at the women's basketball level before. Even the most celebrated and best known women's player could walk down the street and would barely be recognized and then came Caitlin Clark. With her fun and dominating style of play and her easy to market likeability the WNBA seemed to have their greatest star ready for super stardom. The league, and every player in it, would soon benefit from Clark's obvious allure. But, it seems that jealousy and envy (at the very least) have become more of an agenda than elevating the league.
Academics and Athletics Are a Perfect Mix
The William Floyd High School senior played multiple positions for the Colonials. He played multiple positions including safety, running back, kick returner, punt returner and wide receiver during his three years as a varsity starter for the Colonials. But, he is probably best known for his achievements as the team's kicker where he set the school record for the longest field goal.
