Local school bus driver indicted for possessing child sex abuse material
Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced today that Guenther Mayrhofer, 71, of Mastic Beach, a bus driver for the William Floyd School District, has been indicted on charges of Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child and Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child. The indictment alleges that Mayrhofer downloaded images and videos of child sexual abuse and uploaded them to his cloud storage account.
Stony Brook engineering leaders meet with federal agencies to discuss research
Dean Andrew Singer and Associate Dean Jon Longtin of the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences (CEAS) at Stony Brook University met with White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) staff and federal science agency leadership during the week of August 19 to discuss the college's groundbreaking research. The science agency meetings included the Department of Defense (DOD) Basic Research Office, DOD's Office of Naval Research (ONR), Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Science, DOE's Office of Electricity, and the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H).
