Drew Scott joins Brookhaven Town as director of communications

Brookhaven Town Supervisor Dan Panico has appointed Drew Scott as the new Director of Communications, effective October 14. The announcement marks a transition for Scott from his long-standing career in broadcast journalism to a governmental role.

Scott will be tasked with disseminating vital information about Brookhaven Town's government activities to both the public and media outlets. His responsibilities include managing communications through Optimum Channel 18, press releases, special events, and various online platforms.

With over four decades of experience in news anchoring and reporting on Long Island, Scott is well-known in the region. He has worked for Newsday TV and News 12, and was the founding news director at WLNY Channel 55. In addition to his professional work, he studied Communications and taught at New York Institute of Technology.

Scott's career achievements have been recognized by several awards. He is a member of the Press Club of Long Island's "Hall of Fame" and has received an Edward R. Murrow award along with multiple Emmy awards.

"Drew’s depth of knowledge, breadth of experience, and solid reputation amongst his peers and the public make him an asset to Brookhaven Town. I am proud to welcome him to my team."
