Ryszard Murawski, a 44-year-old resident of Lindenhurst, New York, has been sentenced to 22 years to life in prison for the murder of his wife, Wioleta Murawski. The sentence was handed down following his guilty plea to Murder in the Second Degree.

The tragic incident occurred on January 3, 2024. Suffolk County Police received a distressing 911 call from the couple's teenage son, who reported that his father had stabbed his mother and fled the scene in a black GMC pick-up truck. During the call, the boy pleaded for assistance while attempting to save his mother's life.

According to the investigation and Murawski's admission of guilt, upon returning home from a friend's house, the teenager heard his mother screaming for help. He rushed outside to find Murawski attacking her with a large serrated knife. The boy intervened by jumping on his father and struggling with him until Wioleta managed to escape. She collapsed across the street where she later died at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Murawski attempted to evade law enforcement by fleeing in his vehicle but was pursued by multiple police units over several miles before crashing into a building. His home surveillance system recorded the attack.

District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney remarked on the case stating: “Domestic violence is a scourge that tears families apart and leaves immeasurable trauma in its wake,” adding that such acts destroy lives and communities.

Murawski entered his guilty plea on September 17, 2024, before Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen M. Wilutis. He was sentenced on October 17, 2024, represented by Lindsay Henry, Esq.
