Brookhaven council members discuss roles with students at education center

Jonathan Kornreich Council District 1 | Town of Brookhaven

On October 18, Councilwoman Jane Bonner and Councilmember Jonathan Kornreich visited the Sunshine Alternative Education Center (SAEC) in Port Jefferson Station. The purpose of their visit was to engage with students about their responsibilities as members of the Brookhaven Town Council. Dr. Carol Carter, Administrator/Prevention Professional, also participated in the event.

The SAEC aims to create a supportive environment for children and families. Its mission is to foster self-esteem and social skills while encouraging youth to make healthy choices. The center focuses on preventing substance abuse and violence and enhancing family and community connections.

Sunshine Prevention Center offers various prevention-focused programs for youth and families across Suffolk County. Additional information can be found at www.sunshinepreventionctr.org.
