Dolores Mancialandaverde, a 28-year-old from Medford, has pleaded guilty to charges related to a motor vehicle crash that resulted in one fatality and left another individual seriously injured. The announcement was made by Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney.

"Mancialandaverde was not supposed to be driving due to having a suspended license," stated District Attorney Tierney. "Thus, this tragedy could have been avoided. Instead, this defendant chose to endanger Suffolk County residents through his egregious conduct and, in the process, caused the death of Hedilberto Nava-Perez, an innocent passenger in the defendant’s car."

The incident occurred on June 8, 2024, at approximately 1:52 a.m., when Mancialandaverde was operating his 2008 BMW 328i southbound on Horseblock Road in Medford with two passengers. While a tractor trailer was turning left from Horseblock Road onto Express Drive North, Mancialandaverde drove through the intersection and collided with it. After the crash, he fled on foot as a bystander attempted to assist the victims.

Hedilberto Nava-Perez, who was seated in the back of Mancialandaverde's vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger sustained severe injuries including femur, spinal, and facial fractures and was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment. The driver of the tractor trailer remained unharmed.

At the time of this accident, Mancialandaverde's driving privileges were suspended in New York State.

On November 12, 2024, before Supreme Court Justice Timothy Mazzei, Mancialandaverde admitted guilt to charges of Leaving the Scene of an Incident Without Reporting—a Class D felony—and Leaving the Scene of an Incident Without Reporting—a Class E felony.
