Rocky Point road improvements completed by Brookhaven officials

Karen Dunne Kesnig Councilwoman District 6 | Town of Brookhaven

Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro and Councilwoman Jane Bonner have announced the completion of a paving project in Rocky Point. The project involved resurfacing six roads: Arthur Avenue, Bunker Street, Fairway Drive, Greenway Drive, Janis Lane, and Mark Drive.

Before the paving work commenced, crews undertook inspections and installed drains and new ADA-compliant ramps. They also repaired and replaced damaged concrete curbing and aprons. This preliminary work cost approximately $180,000. The total expense for the entire paving project was around $391,000.

Superintendent Losquadro noted the importance of the roads due to their heavy traffic from residents visiting nearby shopping centers such as Stop and Shop and Planet Fitness. "The roads in this paving project see a lot of through traffic from residents accessing the Stop and Shop and Planet Fitness shopping centers," said Losquadro. "They had greatly deteriorated and were in need of resurfacing. I’m glad we were able to include them in our 2024 paving season."

Councilwoman Bonner highlighted the project's significance for community safety and accessibility improvements. "This paving project is a significant improvement for our community, enhancing both safety and accessibility for Rocky Point residents," she stated. "These roads are essential routes for our residents, and by investing in infrastructure like this, we’re committed to maintaining the safety and quality of life our community deserves." She expressed gratitude towards Superintendent Losquadro for his commitment to infrastructure projects throughout Brookhaven.
