Making Students Feel Welcome at Tuttle Avenue School

Wearing green symbolized empathy, community, and inclusivity during "Start With Hello Week." | ESM School District

Tuttle Avenue School’s campus in the Eastport-South Manor Central School District hosted "Start With Hello Week," a social program which encourages students to reach out to peers who may be suffering from social isolation and a lack of connectivity.

Wearing green, the students and faculty gathered outside to link kindness chains into a schoolwide chain to symbolize their connection as a community, empathy, and inclusivity.

The kindness chain now hangs in the cafeteria as a symbol of the student’ efforts to be inclusive and kind.
