The sky was lit with the colors of the holidays, and Santa made an appearance Saturday at the Greater Mastic Beach Chamber of Commerce’s annual tree lighting hosted by Ultimate Mower on Commack Road. There were giveaways for the kids, and cheery music rang through the community courtesy of Party 105.3 and Big Hits 98.1, which gave out prizes for holiday music trivia.
“It was wonderful to see a huge turnout from the community and all of the participants who brought such holiday spirit to the season,” said Matt Towle, chamber vice president. “It is events like these that create lasting holiday memories.”
According to Chamber President Ava Torres, the organization holds the event every year, and each time, more and more people attend. “We are delighted to keep the tree lighting tradition going,” Torres said. “Everyone comes out and celebrates the holidays. It’s such a great way to bring our community together.”
Torres thanked Shirley Feed, LJ’s What’s Hot, and Fred Towle from the South Shore Press for their sponsorship of the event and recognized the Mastic Beach Fire Department and Brookhaven Town Public Safety for their help. Joining in the holiday spirit were Town Supervisor Ed Romaine and Legislator Jim Mazzarella, along with Bob Miller from the Arthur H. Clune American Legion Post 1533, Fire Commissioner Bill Biondi, and 1040 Man Rich Ziegler. Big hits radio personality The Wiseman was at the microphone for an event that was broadcast live across Long Island.
