Kindergarten and first grade students at Clayton Huey Elementary School were visited by the Center Moriches Fire Department for an interactive presentation about fire safety. Throughout October, or Fire Prevention Month, students have been learning about ways to prevent fires and what to do in case of emergencies. The Center Moriches Fire Department reviewed this information with students, as well as showed them the equipment they wear when responding to a fire.

Students then went outside to explore emergency vehicles. They went inside a firetruck and ambulance and got a firsthand look at the equipment first responders use. The visit taught students about fire safety while connecting them to local heroes.

Students wore red fire helmets for their visit with the Center Moriches Fire Department.
