In a week marked by alarming developments at the U.S.-Mexico border, Customs and Border Protection revealed an internal memo warning Border Patrol agents of potential explosive devices. This revelation came after the Mexican military seized ten improvised explosive devices (IEDs) tied to cartel turf wars.

The gravity of the situation was emphasized by the arrest of an individual on the U.S. side armed with a loaded AK-47, two magazines, and a handgun. Meanwhile, the impending surge of thousands of migrants towards Eagle Pass, Texas, raises concerns about the ability to manage the influx. Some migrants have resorted to hitching rides on freight trains, adding to the challenges faced by authorities.

The statistics are staggering, with migrant encounters surpassing 11,000 in a single day, reaching 12,000 the week prior. The pressure on the President to address the escalating crisis is mounting, leading to potential policy changes.

Senator Ted Cruz, a vocal critic of the administration's handling of border security, shared his perspective on the situation. "It's an absolute disaster. I spent a lot of time there, and it's never been remotely as bad, especially with the war raging in Israel and Gaza," Cruz stated, highlighting the heightened risk of terrorist attacks.

Cruz criticized the current administration, asserting that its divided stance and disregard for national security have left the border vulnerable. "The risk of a terrorist attack today is higher than it has been any time since September 11, and this administration, the divided White House, and the Democrats in Congress, they do not care," he added.

Cruz outlined three factors contributing to this stance when asked about the administration's apparent acceptance of a wide-open border despite known national security risks. He pointed to the influence of the extreme left within the Democratic Party, the administration's prioritization of political considerations over national security, and the cynical calculation of some Democrats viewing illegal immigrants as potential future voters.

Cruz also delved into the media's role in shaping the narrative, highlighting the influence of major news outlets in downplaying the severity of the border crisis. He emphasized the need to confront the reality on the ground, which includes dead bodies, exploited children, and assaulted women.
