Lament of a Refugee Camp Aide
Oh how my heart breaks
for the children
who had
undergone
traumas of war
too horrific
to endure
for ones
so young—
turning into
those chillingly eerie
beings:
the living dead;
Dear Lord!
Please give me
the wisdom, the strength—
to help these poor children,
I beg!!

Amidst National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, local leaders honored Suffolk dispatchers for their efforts through perilous times and in tragedy prevention.
Governor Kathy Hochul announced that work is getting started on road resurfacing projects that will enhance safety and improve mobility along key stretches of five Long Island roadways, including the Meadowbrook State Parkway, Sunrise Highway, and William Floyd Parkway.
