Nothing Doing Against These Lions

The Longwood Lions had a dominating defensive performance against Sachem North this weekend to improve their record to 3-1.

The Lions shut out Sachem North 28-0. Head coach Sean Kluber called the victory "a team victory over a solid Sachem North squad." and he pointed to the defense for the win.

Longwood's defensive end Mike Warren had a key sack and stripped the ball away from the QB on the play. The ball popped into the air and was intercepted by senior defensive lineman Rashawn Holman. He then lateraled the ball to the nose tackle Makai Bell who ran it all the way into the endzone. The rare lineman touchdown put smiles on everyones face in the stands as the defense not only pitched a shutout, but added to the scoring themselves.

In just 4 games on the year Warren has 22 tackles, 7 of them for a loss, and 3 sacks. The defense was explosive all day with 11 tackles for a loss and held Sachem North only reached the red zone one time all game.

The offense churned out yards on the ground all day behind a dominant offensive line. The Lions averaged 6 1/2 yards per run and the team had over 250 rushing yards.

Longwood has now outscored their opponents 80-0 in the past two games and now will take on Sachem East next.
