Ward Melville Extends Their Home Dominance

Sachem East vs Ward Melville | @sachemhseast | X

It was Alumni Night for Ward Melville as they took on Sachem East this week and all of the former Ward Melville graduates left happy after a hard-fought defensive win.

Ward Melville beat Sachem East 24-7 this past Friday night under the lights. This wasn't just a win but it was a bit of revenge in front of the alumni. The last time these two teams were on the same field last October, Sachem East came out on top. This time around, it was a different ball game as Ward Melville came out hitting right from the start.

Joey Benedetto led the charge as he rushed for 160 yards and two touchdowns. The defense wouldn't give much as they dominated all game long. The win was Ward Melville's sixth straight at home.

Ward Melville will be back at home next week against Connetquot at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sachem East will be traveling again on Friday to take on Lindenhurst, who is also coming off of a loss, at 6:00 p.m.
