A Duck Goes Streaking

Jackie Bradley Jr. came to the plate with the game tied 1-1 and crushed a home run to right centerfield to give the Ducks a 3-1 lead over the Hagerstown Flying Boxcar.

That is how you break a record in style. With that home run Bradley now is the franchise leader with a 26 game hitting streak. He needed that home run early because although he reached base three times on the night, that would be his only hit to continue the streak.

Bradley, who spent parts of 11 seasons in the big leagues with Boston, Kansas City, Milwaukee, and Toronto, has been regarded as one of the best centerfielders in baseball throughout his career, but since joining the Ducks his bat has also been on fire. Besides just the 26 game hitting streak Bradley's offensive numbers are impressive. Bradley leads the team with an unreal .389 batting average to go along with his 12 home runs, which is second on the team. He also has driven in 33 runs, has scored 34, and has struck out as many times as he has walked.

Bradley helped the Red Sox win the 2018 World Series where he was named the American League Championship Series Most Valuable Player after posting a 1.067 OPS with two homers, nine RBIs, three runs and four walks in the series. The Long Island Ducks are seeing that version of Bradley and he is proving to be one of the best signings in recent memory.
