Nicole Bowman has joined the Stony brook softball staff as an assistant coach. Softball head coach Megan T. Bryant announced the addition of Bowman this week, who previously served as an assistant on the Appalachian State coaching staff.

"Nicole Bowman is a home-run hire for our program, our student-athletes and our athletics department. First and foremost, she is an outstanding person of high character. Nicole knows the game and understands coaching and succeeding at a high level. She knows recruiting and the importance of finding student-athletes who fit our program and University," Bryant said. "Nicole will be a tremendous mentor and teacher for our players. She will bring a strong passion for softball and for developing student-athletes on and off the field. Our staff welcomes Nicole to the Seawolves' softball family and Stony Brook University. We look forward to working together as we continue to build a successful program in the CAA."

Bowman comes to Long Island after two years at Appalachian State. She joined the Mountaineers' staff for the 2023 season as a volunteer assistant before being elevated to a full-time assistant coach for the 2024 season.

"I first want to thank Director of Athletics Shawn Heilbron and Executive Associate Athletic Director Debbie DeJong for their investment in athletics and the softball program. Their continued efforts towards the future success of Stony Brook Athletics is truly felt in everything that they do," Bowman said. "I would also like to thank coach Bryant for entrusting me with this position and allowing me to be a part of the Stony Brook family. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work alongside her and the rest of our staff to not only continue the proven success of the program, but also reach for new heights and a CAA conference championship! Let's go Seawolves!"

A former student-athlete, Bowman played three seasons at Rutgers before finishing her playing career at UNC Charlotte where she was selected to the Conference USA Second Team.
