The Panthers Claw To A Long Island Championship

The Miller Place softball team continues to win and now they are headed to the state tournament.

The Panthers won their first Suffolk County title since 2021 last week and now will play for the state title. After defeating Islip 4-1 and winning the Suffolk County Class A championship they continued their winning ways with a 7-4 victory over Seaford to capture the Long Island Championship.

Emily Lopez was the hero for Miller Place. Lopez came up with the score tied and runners on second and third. Needing to just push the runner across, Lopez singled to drive in Ava Zicchinelli and the Panthers never looked back. The Panthers leaned on their Suffolk County standout pitcher Ava Zicchinelli once again as Seaford wasn't able to even get a hit off of her through 5 innings.

This was the Panthers’ first Long Island title in program history. They now will play for the NYSPHSAA state championship which is being held in Suffolk County on June 7 and 8th at the Martha Avenue complex in Bellport.
