Olivia DeRose has pitched to a championship level all season long and this weekend she led Sachem East to the Class AAA Section XI Softball Championship.

North Babylon tried to mount a comeback late in the game and DeRose thrived under the pressure.North Babylon put the first two batters on base and when DeRose peered in she bore down. She struck out the next batter in overwhelming fashion and then got out of the jam and out of the game with the W.

With the win Sachem East are crowned champions for the first county title in program history, ending the season with a 19-4 record. They will now face off for the Long Island championship game this Friday.
