The William Floyd Colonials varsity football team is set to compete for their 15th Suffolk County Championship. Led by head coach Paul Longo, the team secured their place in the final after a decisive 35-14 victory over Sachem North in the Section XI semifinal playoff. The championship game will take place on Saturday, November 23, at Stony Brook University’s Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium against Ward Melville.

In their recent semifinal win, standout performances included Ja’Quan Thomas with 232 rushing yards and three touchdowns, and AJ Cannet who threw for two touchdowns. On defense, Aaron Fisher and Jayden Johnson each recorded nine tackles.

Ward Melville handed the Colonials their only loss this season with a narrow 22-21 victory earlier in the year. The upcoming match offers an opportunity for redemption as well as a chance to secure another county title.

Tickets for the championship game are available online with QR codes provided at the venue entrance. Section XI has specified that tickets cost $9.40 each and will not accept cash or checks.

The Colonials have a storied history of success, having won 14 Suffolk County titles since 2001 along with five Long Island Championships between 2005 and 2012.
