DEA's national effort focuses on safe disposal of prescription drugs

The DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is scheduled for October 24th. The event will take place locally from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center, located at 50 Route 25A, Smithtown, NY 11787.

This initiative provides an opportunity for people to safely dispose of unused or expired prescription medications. The goal is to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths by removing potentially dangerous drugs from homes.

The event encourages community participation in the safe disposal of prescription drugs and aims to raise awareness about the importance of proper medication management.
