Local Leaders Back in Albany

New York State Assemblyman Joe DeStefano and New York State Senator Dean Murray are back in Albany with their colleagues to kick off the 2025 legislative session. Both released the following statements on their respective agendas.

"We’re back in Albany for a new session of the state legislature, and we have before us a crucial opportunity to address the problems confronting New Yorkers.

This past election should serve as a wake-up call to our colleagues across the aisle—cost of living and public safety are the urgent issues that impact everyone and demand our attention. We cannot let another week, month, or year pass without providing meaningful answers to the problems that ultimately drive people out of this state. We must act boldly, work together, and put the needs of New Yorkers first.

The policies implemented in the years of Albany’s One-Party Rule are not delivering the results families and businesses want. This legislative session needs to be the start of a dramatic course correction. I know the members of the Long Island delegation feel the same way, and we will be hard at it to get the rest of our colleagues to do what’s right for the taxpayers."

Assemblyman Joe DeStefano

"I'm back in Albany for the start of the new Senate Legislative Session and ready to get to work! It's time to fight for the priorities that matter most to my constituents and tackle the challenges we face ahead in this coming session. Let's make this a productive year!"

Senator Dean Murray
