Town of Brookhaven Supervisor Dan Panico and Councilwoman Jane Bonner were at the Rose Caracappa Senior Center in Mount Sinai to celebrate the 100th birthday of Rocky Point resident, Josie Romano.

Born in Harlem and raised in the Bronx, Josie spent her younger years delighting audiences across the country with her marionette puppets. At 95 years old she was still teaching line dancing. She even taught at the Town’s Rose Caracappa Senior Center.

Asked what her secret was to such a long life, Josie said, “I love to eat, and once in a while a little drink, when I feel good. That’s about it and I love to dance.”

Josie currently works at the St. Anthony’s Thrift Shop in Rocky Point. She was blessed with three daughters, seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
