A lawsuit filed on January 17, 2025, accuses multiple medical practices and law firms of orchestrating a fraud scheme.

The plaintiffs, Roosevelt Road Re, Ltd., Tradesman Program Managers, LLC, and Ionian Re, LLC, allege that Liakas Law P.C., among others, participated in a conspiracy to defraud insurance companies through staged construction accidents and fraudulent medical claims.

The complaint was filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York against Liakas Law P.C.

The lawsuit alleges violations under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), claiming that the defendants took part in a scheme involving fake construction accidents and fraudulent workers' compensation claims.

According to the plaintiffs' attorneys from The Willis Law Group PLLC, the defendants recruited individuals to stage accidents at construction sites across New York. These "runners" would then direct claimants to specific law firms and medical providers involved in the conspiracy.

The complaint details how these claimants were subjected to unnecessary medical treatments to inflate insurance claims. The plaintiffs argue that this scheme mirrors other high-profile cases like United States v. Rainford et al., where similar tactics were used to exploit insurance systems.

The plaintiffs are seeking damages from the court, including restitution for payments made based on fraudulent claims. They also seek injunctive relief to prevent further exploitation of the workers' compensation system and demand punitive damages for what they describe as deliberate and malicious conduct by the defendants.

Representing Roosevelt Road Re Ltd., Tradesman Program Managers LLC, and Ionian Re LLC are attorneys from The Willis Law Group PLLC. The case is being heard under Case ID: 1:25-cv-00300.
