In a historic achievement for William Floyd High School, the cheerleading team is set to compete at the prestigious National High School Cheerleading Championship (NHSCC) for the very first time in Orlando, Florida, from February 7-10, 2025.

This marks a monumental milestone for the team, their coaches, and school district, as they prepare to represent their school on one of the most significant stages in high school cheerleading.

The NHSCC is one of the most competitive cheerleading events in the country, drawing top teams from across the nation.

Under the leadership of head coach Jessica Alvi and assistant coach Christina Molnar, the team has honed their skills and built a level of camaraderie that has carried them to this national opportunity.

“We are incredibly proud of this team for making it to the NHSCC,” said Coach Alvi. “This is a dream come true for our athletes, and it’s a testament to their commitment and passion for the sport. They have worked incredibly hard to get here, and we know they'll give it their all when they take the floor. Our motto for this trip comes from the magical fairytale Cinderella, even miracles take a little time.”

For the school, this achievement is more than just a win for the cheerleading team; it's a proud moment for the entire William Floyd community.

“We are beyond grateful for the encouragement and belief you've shown in our team. We couldn't have done it without you and our supportive team families,” she said.

The Colonials also participated in the Second Annual Newsday Cheerfest, a competition among the top cheer teams from Nassau and Suffolk counties.

“As the team heads to Orlando for the NHSCC on February 7, all eyes will be on William Floyd, a school that has proven that with hard work, determination, and a lot of heart, anything is possible. The cheerleaders are ready to take on this new challenge and show the world what they're made of,” concluded Coach Alvi.
