Stony Brook Seawolves are Kings of the Island

The Stony Brook Seawolves basketball team has had a tough season so far, but they gave their fans a memorable moment that they won't soon forget.

Stony Brook entered play for the battle of Long Island against Hofstra at just 6-19 on the season. They had lost 11 of their last 12 contests and were just 1-10 on the road over their last 11 away from home. They also entered the game against the Pride with sports books setting them as a 13-point underdog, but all that changed Saturday night.

The Wolves played their best game of the year and upended Hofstra on the road 80-75. Andre Snoddy led the scoring by putting in 27 points, and not far behind him was CJ Luster with 26. The duo were on fire all afternoon. Snoddy also added 12 rebounds and 2 assists, while Luster knocked down five three-pointers.

O'Connor, Wright, and Philip all chipped in with 7 and 8 points, and the team's aggressiveness under the basket was evident from the start. Stony Brook hit 27 free throws to just 12 for the Pride. The Wolves shot 49% from the field as they looked deadly accurate in spurts, and that accuracy carried over past the three-point line where they hit an outstanding 53% from deep.

The Wolves have six regular season games left on their schedule, with the next game coming against Monmouth at home on Thursday night, and then on the 27th they have a rematch against Hofstra, this time in Suffolk.
