William Floyd wrestlers advance to state championships after county success

Two wrestlers from the William Floyd girls' wrestling team have made history at the inaugural Suffolk County Championships. Junior Veronica-Sky Williams emerged as the champion in her 145 lbs. weight class, marking a first for the school in girls' wrestling. Jaylee Itzep-Escobar secured second place in her 126 lbs. category.

Both athletes are set to compete in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Girls’ Wrestling Championships at MVP Arena in Albany, NY.

The girls' varsity wrestling team included students from William Floyd and other schools such as Bellport, Riverhead, Longwood, Patchogue-Medford, Sayville, and Bayport-Blue Point. They concluded their inaugural season tied for first place with a 6-2 overall record.
