Brookhaven Division announces library resource workshop for residents

Neil Foley Council District 5 | Town of Brookhaven

Brookhaven Town Supervisor Dan Panico has announced a workshop titled "Getting the Most from Your Library," which will be open to residents on April 24 at 6:30 pm. The event will take place at Brookhaven Town Hall and will be conducted by Sachem Public Library Director Neely McCahey and her team. This initiative is spearheaded by the Town's Division of Women's Services.

The workshop is designed to demonstrate the expanded role of libraries in the Town of Brookhaven. Libraries now serve as community centers, offering a wide array of resources beyond books. These include physical and digital collections, internet access, educational programs, job search assistance, and language learning tools. Libraries also host cultural events and community gatherings and some feature outdoor spaces for public use.

The primary goal of "Getting the Most from Your Library" is to encourage lifelong learning and provide residents with opportunities to connect with information and each other. Those interested in more details can reach out to the Town of Brookhaven Division of Women's Services at 631-451-6146.
