Hiller Climbs the Record Books

Joey Hiller | prepbaseballreport.com

Center Moriches star pitcher Joey Hiller has etched his name into the record books and is climbing the school's all time charts.

This week Hiller pitched a complete game in a 12-2 win over Mattituck to send Moriches to 7-1 on the season. This start wasn't just a complete game, but it moved Hiller into some elite company as far as the Center Moriches record books are concerned.

Hiller struck out 12 batters in the effort and the fire baller now sits in 3rd place in program history with 202 strikeouts. Center Moriches has had some big-time arms, and he is just another in a long line of front-line starters. His 202 K's put him behind the leader Paul Gibson, who amassed an incredible 375 punch outs during tenure and Glenn Gibson, who might be in reach this season for Hiller, with 270 K's.

Hiller also had two hits and two RBIs to help his own effort, and he should be on the mound again next at Southampton.
