Councilmembers Jane Bonner and Neil Manzella of the Town of Brookhaven have acknowledged Frank Rivera for his advocacy work in support of individuals with sarcoidosis, an uncommon inflammatory disease. Councilwoman Bonner, representing the 2nd District, stated, "Through his organization, Sarcoidosis of Long Island, Mr. Rivera has provided vital resources, united the community, and worked with officials to promote research, healthcare equity, and supportive legislation."

Mr. Rivera, who is himself a sarcoidosis patient, has played a significant role in fostering partnerships among patients, caregivers, and researchers, particularly during April's Sarcoidosis Awareness Month.
