Suffolk County Police Department Came to the Rescue of Ducklings in Distress

When a group of baby ducks decided to take a waddle down Ducky Lane in Mastic Beach on Tuesday, they had no idea their day would turn into an adventure.

The baby birds are no match for the sewer grates, and they fall right through. Luckily for them, the Suffolk County Police came to their rescue.

After a 911 caller reported the trapped foursome, Seventh Precinct Officers Sean Roche, Douglas Minogue, Kellie Znaniecki, Zachary Proctor, and Danielle Piotrowski successfully rescued the ducklings.

After being pulled to safety, the four babies continued on their way. You can see the officers each holding a tiny duckling in their hands.

A quick search on Social media shows Suffolk County Police officers coming to the rescue of ducklings and goslings just about every year. 

In previous years, officers had to climb down into the drain. 

This year, with the net in hand, officers got it done easily. It didn’t take long for the comment section of SCPD’s Facebook page to fill up with praise for their duckling rescue efforts.
