Brookhaven's prom gown program aids over 160 students

Karen Dunne Kesnig Councilwoman District 6 | Town of Brookhaven

Supervisor Daniel J. Panico has announced the results of the Town of Brookhaven’s 2025 INTERFACE Prom Gown Program, organized by the Department of General Services Youth Bureau. This year, over 160 high school students in Brookhaven Town received prom gowns, shoes, and accessories through the program.

“Beyond dresses, shoes, and accessories, the Youth Bureau’s Prom Gown Program fosters confidence, inclusion, and celebration by ensuring financial barriers don’t prevent students from experiencing their prom,” Supervisor Panico stated. “This helps boost self-esteem and creates lasting memories, benefiting both students and their families.”

The program addresses the high costs associated with prom season by providing young ladies with gowns and other accessories at no cost. These items are theirs to keep. The initiative targets high school students who might otherwise miss out on their prom due to financial constraints. Most of the gowns collected are new and are given to participants free of charge while maintaining strict confidentiality regarding clients' information.

INTERFACE is a collaboration between individuals, corporate partners, and the Town of Brookhaven aimed at assisting less fortunate residents by providing goods and services. It also tackles social issues using unique abilities and creativity from individuals and corporations in partnership with the town. Additionally, INTERFACE offers educational awareness programs for community groups and colleges to encourage volunteering efforts within Brookhaven.
