Dennis D. Spurling, an attorney and media figure, has filed a lawsuit against an individual identified as Fabrice Nelson, also known as Neferkare T. Dessalines, alleging defamation and related claims.

According to the complaint, Nelson allegedly posted a series of YouTube videos between May 4 and May 7, 2025, containing false statements about Spurling’s professional competence and character. The videos, posted under the name "Neferkare T. Dessalines," reportedly received more than 11,000 views. Spurling claims the content labeled him a “failed lawyer” and included additional derogatory remarks intended to harm his reputation.

The complaint alleges that the statements were made with actual malice and reckless disregard for the truth. It further asserts that Nelson monetized the videos through audience engagement and donations via platforms such as Cash App and PayPal.

Spurling claims that these actions resulted in economic losses exceeding $100,000, including lost clients and canceled engagements. He also alleges emotional distress stemming from public ridicule associated with the videos. The complaint seeks compensatory damages of no less than $250,000 and additional punitive damages.

The lawsuit includes claims of defamation (libel and slander), business disparagement, tortious interference with prospective business relations, and intentional infliction of emotional distress under New York law. Each claim alleges that the defendant’s conduct directly damaged Spurling’s professional reputation and practice as a licensed attorney.

The plaintiff is represented by attorney Brian L. Ponder of Brian Ponder LLP Trial Lawyers. The case was filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York under Civil Action No. 2:25-cv-03390.
