Rocky Point High School's alumni Gianna Amendola took 1st Place at 138lbs in the Women's Open division this week. 

Amendola rose to new heights at the Nuway Nationals in Atlantic City, NJ. Amendola has been wrestling for the East Stroudburg Warriors for three seasons now. 

She has improved on the mat every year since her freshman season. She began her college career with a 10-5 overall record that included a 4-2 dual record, with 5 falls and two technical falls. The next year she improved that to an 8-8 record with 8 falls, and now as a junior she has reached new heights. This year she went 21-13 with a 3-1 dual record, with 8 falls and 5 technical falls. 

She got her start at Rocky Point High where she won the 2022 Long Island Championship. She led the Eagles to two county championships while showing her leadership skills as the captain of the squad. 

Off the mat she is an Honor Roll Student who is majoring in Psychology and is looking to take her career into psychology or law enforcement.
