The annual ShopRite Run the Farm event took place on August 16 at Bethel Hobbs Farm in Centereach, marking its 11th year. The event was cohosted by Brookhaven Town Clerk Kevin LaValle and Councilman Neil Manzella. According to organizers, this year saw a record turnout with 217 runners participating.
Bethel Hobbs Farm, established in 1906, is run by volunteers and donates about 90% of its annual harvest to local food pantries and programs across Long Island. Each year, the farm raises over 75,000 pounds of food for these efforts.
The race recognized Michael Ramos-Cody as the top male finisher with a time of 23 minutes and 10 seconds. Sarah Williams was the top female finisher at 26 minutes and 31 seconds. Both received medals and plaques for their achievements.
A total of $17,370 was raised through participant fees and sponsorships during this year's event. The funds will go toward supporting Bethel Hobbs Farm's ongoing mission to provide food for those in need.

Raising over $17,000 for Hobbs Farm not only supports its mission but also ensures that thousands of families across Long Island will continue to benefit from the farm’s generosity.”
