Bayport-Blue Point allows nothing on homecoming

Homecoming is always such a special day for the school, and especially for the seniors on the football team and the Bayport-Blue Point Phantoms made sure the game would be even that much more memorable this weekend.

The Phantoms not only won their homecoming game, but they did so in as impressive fashion as you can, with a shutout. Bayport-Blue Point allowed nothing in a 48-0 win over Shoreham-Wading River.

The Phantoms ran all over the Cats defense for the tune of more than 400 yards on the ground. That ground attack was led by Josh Franchak and Colin Reyer who both ran for more than 150 yards and combined for six touchdowns, each running for three.

They took away any need for a passing game as this was ground and pound at its finest. Combined with a dominant defensive effort the game was never in doubt. The Phantoms scored two touchdowns in each quarter before the half, and the large lead allowed seniors to play late in the game in their final homecoming game.

The Phantoms have now outscored their first two opponents 102-7.

Before the game the school held it's Hall of Fame ceremony where it announced the induction of Jack Piekos, a pitcher from the class of 2014, coach Neil Zarcone, Loren Generi, from the class of 2011, and community contributor Stephen Cannone.

Bayport-Blue Point will now try to keep things going as they take on King's Point this week, while Shoreham-Wading River will try to get back on track against Hampton Bays.
