Hershey leads Eastport-South Manor to a homecoming win

ESM Football | Eastport-South Manor Central School District

Homecoming always adds a little juice to any home team and that was no different this weekend when Eastport-South Manor came out of their home locker room fired up and quickly put up 14 points en route to a 31-14 win.

Joey Hershey led the way with a dominant ground game. He carried the ball 17 times for nearly 150 yards on the ground and three scores. Hershey was one of six players who had rushes in the game. He also added 8 tackles to impact the game on both sides of the ball.

The ESM defense also wasn't allowing much on the day. They held Harborfields to just one touchdown before the 4th quarter and were able to sack the QB four times. Nolan Douglas led the way with two sacks himself. The defensive line controlled the line of scrimmage, while the linebackers and secondary made sure no big plays developed. The team’s tackling was crisp, and their pursuit of the ball was relentless, forcing Harborfields into several negative plays and stalled drives.

Harborfields couldn't get anything going on offense as they passed for only 65 yards and they had seven different backs carry the ball, none going for more than 35 yards on the day.

The ESM defense has only allowed 14 and 17 points through two weeks and now will hit the road to take on Westhampton. The team hopes to continue their impressive defensive streak while building on the momentum from a dominant homecoming performance.

Bayport-Blue Point score 70 as their offense shines

It’s not every day you go to a football game and see over 100 points scored, especially in high school. It’s even rarer to see one team put up 70 points, but with Bayport-Blue Point, it somehow doesn’t feel all that shocking.
