A New York City resident has filed a lawsuit against several officers of the NYPD, alleging violations of his civil rights.

The lawsuit, filed by plaintiff Kevin Cameron, names Sergeant Shahzeb Ahmed and Officers Christopher Bradley, Joseph J. Cammarato, and Joseph Ventre as defendants. The lawsuit arises from an incident on November 14, 2024, at Cameron's residence in Medford, New York. The complaint alleges that police officers entered Cameron's property without a warrant or legal justification and conducted an unlawful search. Cameron claims that Officer Ventre threatened him with job loss if he did not comply and subsequently arrested him without cause after fabricating evidence. These actions led to charges against Cameron for assault and obstruction of governmental administration based on allegedly false statements made by the officers.

Cameron asserts that the incident caused him physical injuries during his arrest and emotional distress due to false accusations and defamation, which also resulted in his termination from employment at Nor Bay Service Station. He claims the defendants violated his constitutional rights under the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Fourteenth Amendments through unlawful search and seizure, fabrication of evidence, false arrest, trespass, defamation, tortious interference with contractual relations, assault, and malicious prosecution.

Cameron is seeking compensatory damages for physical injuries and emotional suffering, as well as punitive damages to hold the defendants accountable. He also seeks attorney’s fees under 42 U.S.C. § 1988 for statutory rights violations.

The plaintiff is represented by attorney John V. Tait of the Law Office of Michael H. Joseph PLLC. The case was filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York under Case ID 2:25-cv-06084.
