Nicholas DiCaprio finished 15th in the Class B NYSPHSAA Championships held in Queensbury, New York. He was the top finisher from Suffolk County, earning All-State recognition for his outstanding performance. The junior cross country standout continues to impress, and his steady progression suggests a bright future as he looks ahead to next season. His coach and teammates have praised his work ethic, consistency, and competitive drive, all of which have helped elevate him into one of the county’s premier young runners.
Earlier this year, DiCaprio also delivered another impressive performance on a much different stage. A Suffolk County teenager at the time, he finished in eighth place at the 22nd annual Tunnel to Towers 5K, one of the most recognizable and emotionally significant races in the region. Held each year to honor first responders and military heroes, the race draws thousands of runners from across the country. Among the 3,400 participants who competed that Sunday, the 14-year-old DiCaprio was the only Long Islander to place inside the top 10, making his accomplishment all the more remarkable.
His ability to excel in both championship-level scholastic competition and major public events speaks to his versatility and potential. DiCaprio has shown he can handle pressure, adapt to different race environments, and rise to the challenge against elite fields. As he continues to train and refine his technique, expectations for his future remain high.
With another full year ahead at the high school level, DiCaprio is poised to build on these achievements. Miller Place Cross Country also has a bright future and all eyes will be on the team next season. His combination of talent, determination, and early success positions him as an athlete to watch as he continues to represent Suffolk County with pride and distinction.
