A former Suffolk County police officer was sentenced Monday, December 1st, to two years in jail after admitting he helped manage a brothel in Holbrook.
George Trimigliozzi, 56, of Islip, pleaded guilty to promoting prostitution, official misconduct, and unlawful imprisonment in two separate indictments. Prosecutors said he worked as a manager for one location in a larger network of prostitution sites headed by co-defendant Frank Saggio.
“It is particularly egregious when a sworn police officer abandons his duty to participate in criminal activity,” said District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney.
“George Trimigliozzi violated public trust when he chose to manage a brothel instead of upholding the law. This prosecution dismantled a years-long criminal enterprise, and I commend my Public Corruption Bureau for holding the defendant responsible for his actions.”
According to court records, the former 18-year police veteran acted as co-manager of the Suite 3 location of the Holbrook-based operation between October 2019 and March 2021, alongside co-defendant Steven Arey, a longtime Islip School District employee.
The enterprise, operated by Saggio, 61, of West Islip, allegedly profited from the systematic promotion of prostitution at multiple sites, including three suites at 6089 Sunrise Highway in Holbrook—American Girls Spa, Spa, and Reiki for Healing—and a West Babylon venue known as the Tunnel of Love.
Prosecutors said Trimigliozzi—who has since been fired by the Suffolk County Police Department—admitted he abandoned his police duties on March 19th, 2021. On that date, he responded to a robbery at the brothel, driving nearly 90 mph in his patrol car despite knowing he was not authorized to leave his assigned post.
Saggio, who pleaded guilty to enterprise corruption and agreed to forfeit $1,875,000, admitted during his plea that the larger operation ran from October 2019 through June 2024. He also admitted requiring sex workers to pay monthly fees ranging from $6,000 at the Holbrook location to $12,000 at the West Babylon site.
Dana Ciardullo, 33, of North Bellmore and Saggio’s girlfriend, managed the Tunnel of Love location and pleaded guilty to promoting prostitution. She is set to be sentenced on December 18th.
