Stony Brook opens engagement center to connect with alumni and friends

Andres Benavides, Director, The Engagement Center at Stony Brook University | Official website

In November, Stony Brook University opened the Stony Brook Engagement Center to strengthen its relationship with alumni and supporters. The new center is housed in the Social and Behavioral Sciences Building on campus. It operates with a staff of six full-time employees and about 100 student engagement specialists.

The team aims to connect with alumni through various methods, including phone calls, text messaging, videos, and emails. Alumni are invited to share their experiences at Stony Brook and discuss their interests, encouraging ongoing involvement with the university after graduation.

Andres Benavides, director of the center, said, “Our goal is to build genuine, lasting relationships with our alumni and friends. This is about creating real connections, understanding what people care about and making sure they feel appreciated and a part of the university’s ongoing success.”
