Get Help to Stop Smoking in 2025

Suffolk County wants to help you stop smoking and it won’t cost you a cent. The program begins on January 9th. The county’s smoking cessation program is a seven-week course that uses a comprehensive approach to the treatment of tobacco product dependence. All cessation groups and programs are supervised by a nurse practitioner, and services are provided to residents at no cost.

Looking forward to 2025

I also look forward to January 20th and the inauguration of Donald Trump as President of the United States. These last four years have been rough on us, many people we know, and for our country as a whole, and that has created a lot of daily stress we didn’t always recognize. After the election, when a sigh of relief was had, the realization of the effects of a failed presidency were apparent. A sense of relief and optimism took hold and our mood shifted.

New Services in 2025 by Brookhaven Town Clerk

To make it easier for residents to get the details on land use and rezoning applications in their neighborhoods, the Clerk has added QR codes to the informational signs required at the sites. Scanned by cell phones, the codes will direct people to www.BrookhavenNY.gov/TownNotices, where they can click on the project they're interested in to learn more.

Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney has announced the indictment of Mitchell K. Johnson, a 38-year-old resident of Farmingville, on charges related to sex trafficking.

Shocking Discovery at Smith Point

The police identified the remains as belonging to a male and have asked the public to contact them at 631-852-6392 if they can provide any information. They did not confirm if it was related to a human bone found at the ocean beach back in March 2023.

Hochul Turns Down the Heat in Schools Across NYS

The law (S3397-A/A9011-A) establishes 88 degrees as the maximum temperature in classrooms and support services spaces and requires a plan for the removal of students and staff from these spaces. Where it is practical for the school district to do so, it also creates a definition of extreme heat condition days as well as a standard to measure room temperature.

Musk used X to telegraph the message about the bad CR bill to the American public. Before Mush bought X, which was heavily censored, it is likely this message would have been muted if heard at all. The Brooklyn-born World War II Army Private entered service at the young age of 19 in 1943. He was at The Battle of Normandy as a member of the 325th Glider Infantry regiment the following year.

In October 2022, just before joining the production of Tyler Taormina’s “Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point,” which later cast my grandma Mary Reistetter as the grandma within the film, my grandfather Joe passed away. He was a month away from turning 85.
