High school student found with handgun; investigation ongoing

This afternoon, shortly before high school dismissal, a student was brought to an administrator's office for possible vaping. During a search with a metal detecting wand, it was discovered that the student had a handgun. The weapon was confiscated and police were notified immediately.

The matter has been handed over to law enforcement, who are continuing their investigation. The student will face consequences through the criminal justice system. In addition to any criminal charges, the student will also face severe penalties according to the school district code of conduct.
