The Town of Brookhaven will host its annual Country Fair on September 21 and 22 at the historic Longwood Estate in Ridge, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The event will include historic re-enactments, demonstrations, food, entertainment by the Ed Travers Band, craft vendors, children’s activities, a Tesla Museum exhibit, a dog show, a vintage apron show, and house museum tours. Admission is $5 per person. Children under 12 are free and will receive a "Passport to the Past."

Parking is free with a complimentary shuttle service from Longwood Junior High School. Leashed and well-behaved pets are welcome. The Longwood Estate is located at the corner of Longwood Road and Smith Road in Ridge. For more information, call 631-924-1820.

The Longwood Estate has been passed down through generations since before 1817. In 1973, developers Wilbur Breslin and Herbert Carmel purchased the property for commercial and industrial development.

Brookhaven Town officials and local residents opposed this plan. In response to public opposition in 1974, Breslin and Carmel donated the manor house and 35 acres of land to the Town of Brookhaven.

Throughout its two-hundred-year history, the estate has experienced fallow periods as well as a notable sixty-year Golden Age characterized by love, family life, and bustling activity. Today, it serves as a venue for various community activities.
