Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro and Councilwoman Jane Bonner have announced the completion of a nine-road paving project in Miller Place.

Prior to paving, crews inspected and installed drains; repaired and replaced damaged concrete curbing, sidewalk and aprons; and installed ADA-compliant handicap ramps at a cost of approximately $81,000. The nine roadways that were resurfaced include: Helme Avenue, Helme Avenue Extension, Islander Court, Jessica Lane, Memorial Drive, Miller Place Road, Miller Place-Middle Island Road, Miller Place-Yaphank Road, and Mt. Sinai-Coram Road. The total cost for this paving project was approximately $2.2 million.

“This paving project included some very heavily-populated roadways, along with main arteries for teachers, students and staff attending Miller Place High School,” said Superintendent Losquadro. “The sidewalks and roads within this paving project are now safer for all those who travel them.”

Councilwoman Bonner said, “These roads are some of the busiest in my council district and now they are much safer for motorists, walkers and bicycle riders. I thank Superintendent Losquadro and the Highway Department for their efforts to get it all done before it’s too cold to pave.”
