Medford Fire Dept Open House

On Friday October 6th, 2023 the Medford Fire Department held their Fire Prevention Open House, there were many activities to do like the smoke trailer, extinguish grease fires, practice putting out a house fire, climb in the fleet and even a live extrication drill. There was a large turnout from the community and politicians in clouding Ed Romaine and Joe DeStefano. The open house started at 6p.m and ended at 9p.m. The open house was held at 171 Oregon Avenue, at the Medford Fire Department headquarters. There was also a presence made by both the Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal’s Office, represented by Brian Smith and the Suffolk County Fire Marshal, with their outstanding arson dog. The Suffolk County Sheriffs Office also brought their emergency management truck and some buggies for the kids to ride. The department also allowed for the public to take a ride up and down their ladder truck, in the basket. What a fun filled night for the family.

Pat LaFontaine’s plaque has officially been added to the Islanders Hall of Fame wall, placing him among some of the most legendary figures in franchise history. The former star forward was inducted into the Ring of Honor at UBS Arena, becoming the 17th member to receive the prestigious distinction.
