Smithtown West senior and multi-sport athlete Jack Melore has been without a doubt the best receiver on Long Island over the last two years. From setting multiple in game, career, and single season records, it has been very clear who the best wide receiver in Suffolk County has been.

Last week at the Suffolk County Football awards dinner, Melore was presented with the Paul Longo Award for the best wide receiver on Long Island. He becomes the first Smithtown Bull to ever win the award and it serves a nice little sendoff as he hopes to play football at the next level.

In nine games this year, Melore put up video game like numbers. He finished the year with 78 receptions, 1258 receiving yards, and an absurd 21 total touchdowns.

Along with his impressive stats, the senior receiver also set new Long Island records in career receptions and career receiving yards during the season while also breaking his own record for receptions in a game and catching seven touchdowns during Smithtown West’s lone playoff game against Half Hollow Hills West.

Melore will certainly get his second All-State honor of his high school football career to go along with this award and all the records he set throughout the year.

While he is also one of the best basketball players in Suffolk County, Melore seems destined to play football at the collegiate level as many Division One programs are extremely interested in his services on the field.
