During the month of September, the Patchogue Medford community gathered at Raider Stadium as the varsity football team hosted their annual “Support the Troops” game against Riverhead High School.

The event is aimed to honor those currently serving or who have served in the armed forces and either reside or formerly attended Patchogue-Medford High School.

The school has also shown their respects to the armed forces in the past as they renamed the school campus to “Lt. Michael P. Murphy Campus” in 2014 to honor the former Navy Seal.

About 30 minutes prior to the opening kickoff, all the guests of honor were brought out onto the field and lined up on the Pat-Med sideline for a moment of silence followed by the singing of the National Anthem.

Veterans and active troops that were honored include people from as far back as World War II all the way up to those who recently graduated from Patchogue-Medford High School and now currently serve our country in one of the Military Branches our country has.

The Raiders would go on to lose the game to the Riverhead Blue Waves, but the real winner of this game was those who came out and were able to support those who have protected our country during times of great uncertainty and war.
