Brookhaven Lab hosts symposium celebrating Nobel-winning discoveries in physics

John Hill Deputy Director for Science and Technology | Brookhaven National Laboratory

Scientists at Brookhaven National Laboratory are set to commemorate significant milestones in physics with a symposium on November 22. The event will highlight Nobel Prize-winning discoveries and explore future advancements in the field. Scheduled from 1 to 6 p.m. at Berkner Hall, the symposium will cover the impacts of CP violation and the J/psi particle on physics research.

Participants can expect discussions on current and upcoming experiments aimed at enhancing our understanding of the universe. These include projects like the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider, Large Hadron Collider, BELLE-II at SuperKEKB, and Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment.

Refreshments will be available, and the day will conclude with a toast celebrating past, present, and future contributions to discovery science. Those unable to attend in person have the option to register for virtual participation. Early registration is encouraged for both in-person and virtual attendees.

The event marks 60 years since the discovery of CP violation and 50 years since the identification of the J/psi particle.
