William Floyd alumni participate in NCAA lacrosse tournaments

Seventeen former lacrosse players from William Floyd High School are taking part in the NCAA Men’s and Women’s lacrosse tournaments across Division I, II, and III levels. These athletes, who have roots in the William Floyd lacrosse program, are competing at the highest levels of college sports.

In the NCAA Division I Women’s Tournament, Kayla Gilmore represents Maryland. Her team defeated Fairfield 16-7 in the opening round and will compete against either Penn or Army West Point next.

For the NCAA Division I Men’s Tournament, Jezayd Hall plays for Albany. The team secured a victory over Siena with an 11-9 score in the first round and is set to face No. 1 Cornell on May 11.

The NCAA Division II Women’s Tournament features Emily Murtha and Payton LaVallee from Dominican. Their team won against Molloy 19-7 and will go up against Pace University on May 10. Bree Solero from Wingate saw her team lose to Limestone in their opening match.

In the NCAA Division II Men’s Tournament, Jacob Faison, Nick Taiani, Jake Taylor, Liam Taylor, Noah Taylor, Owen Taylor, and Jagger Warren represent Molloy. They emerged victorious over Pace with a close 15-14 win and are scheduled to play No. 1 Adelphi on May 11.

Lastly, in the NCAA Division III Men’s Tournament, Robert Ball and Connor Murtha played for Farmingdale but were defeated by Trinity with a score of 13-6. Jayden Bonner, Julian Duque, and Jaden Jones from Western Connecticut also faced defeat against Babson in their initial game.

Not all participating students are graduates of William Floyd School District; however, all have been part of its lacrosse program.
