The William Floyd School District has been recognized with the Best Communities for Music Education designation by The NAMM Foundation. This marks the third consecutive year and the ninth time overall that the district has received this honor, previously earning it in 2004, 2006, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2023, and 2024.

Dr. Amy Mason Sckipp, coordinator of music at William Floyd School District, expressed pride in the achievement: “I am so incredibly proud to announce that once again, the William Floyd School District is being recognized for its exceptional dedication to music education. You will not find a more passionate and masterful music faculty anywhere."

The designation is awarded to districts and schools across the United States that demonstrate a high commitment to music education. It acknowledges efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community leaders who integrate music into well-rounded education programs.

Kevin M. Coster, Superintendent of Schools at William Floyd School District said: “Music education is an integral part of the overall academic experience and the William Floyd Music Department is the best of the best.”

The district's music faculty includes numerous educators dedicated to fostering musical talent among students. In addition to this national recognition, in 2018 the department was inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame for its contributions to music education.

Research cited by The NAMM Foundation highlights benefits associated with music education such as improved cognitive skills and social abilities in children who participate in musical activities.
